The Door Jam is a place to squeeze in articles about C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, their work, and adaptations of their fantasy worlds. Unless otherwise stated, I’m not endorsing (or criticizing) any of these but merely sharing them with you.

With Narnia set to debut on IMAX later this year, the film’s principal photography ended this past week.

The beginning of Narnia’s beginning is at an end. Greta Gerwig wrapped six months of filming on her adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew, according to Narnia Web.

After shooting at several real-world locations and three studios, Narnia moves to the post-production phase, where visual effects teams are already working.

Currently, there are less than 300 days until Narnia debuts in IMAX theaters on November 26, 2026, unless the Netflix/WB deal unexpectedly changes things.

None of the roles have been officially confirmed by Netfilx, but a few have become known based on public filming, industry reporting, and actors confirming.

The known roles are:

  • Emma Mackey is confirmed to portray Jadis the White Witch.

  • Daniel Craig is expected to play Uncle Andrew.

  • Carey Mulligan is expected to play Mabel Kirke.

  • David McKenna is expected to portray Digory Kirke.

  • Beatrice Campbell is expected to portray Polly Plummer.

  • Denise Gough is in an unknown role.

  • Meryl Streep has been rumored to be the voice of Aslan.

At IMDb, you can read a listing of those known to be involved with the movie, including producers, composers, and crew.

Not Safe But Good

C.S. Lewis quote of the week

When all is said (and truly said) about the divisions of Christendom, there remains, by God’s mercy, an enormous common ground.

April 4, 1934 letter to Dom Bede Griffiths, The Collected Letters of C.S. Lewis, Volume 2

Tumnus’ bookshelf

Books by or about Lewis or Tolkien

The Collected Letters of C.S. Lewis, Volume 3: Narnia, Cambridge, and Joy, 1950-1963 ebook ($13.99, 53% off)

This is my favorite letter collection of Lewis’. It includes all the letters after the publication of Narnia and features some of his most developed theological thinking.

Other books:

  • Sauron Defeated: The End Of The Third Age (History of Middle-earth Book 9) ebook ($1.99, 90% off)

  • The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (The Chronicles of Narnia) picture ebook ($4.99, 45% off)

The Problem of Printers

Bad but unfortunately real C.S. Lewis book covers

Obviously, neither of these are books from Lewis, but both of these pop up on Amazon when you click on certain links for volumes of his letters. Don’t ask me how letters from Sandra or Muppet Babies learning the letters equate to C.S. Lewis’ letters, but that’s what Amazon does.
