The Door Jam is a place to squeeze in articles about C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, their work, adaptations of their fantasy worlds, news from other franchises, and interesting articles. Unless otherwise stated, I’m not endorsing (or criticizing) any of these but merely sharing them with you.

The former 007 didn’t offer many words, but Daniel Craig’s few confirmed the longstanding rumor that he was involved with Greta Gerwig’s Narnia movie.

At the European premiere of a film in one of Netflix’s biggest established movie series, Craig confirmed his involvement in Netflix’s biggest upcoming movie series. On the red carpet for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Craig was asked about Narnia.

A Deadline reporter asked, “So, you’re filming Narnia with Greta Gerwig?” Craig nodded and said, “Yes, yes.” The reporter then asked how it was going. He replied, “Great. Amazing.”

Deadline then asked if he would share more information about it. Craig laughed and said, “No. Absolutely nothing.” Narnia Web shared the video of the encounter:

So, like so much else with Gerwig’s adaptation, we know something, but not much.

He’s been rumored as Andrew Ketterley, Digory Kirke’s uncle. In the book, Uncle Andrew is the one who sends Digory and Polly into other worlds by magic rings because he is too scared to do it himself.

Many of the rumored actors have been confirmed, but not all of them.1 Pop singer Charlie XCX was supposedly cast as Jadis, but then Emma Mackey was announced.

The confirmed actors are:

  • Emma Mackey: Jadis (confirmed by Hollywood industry reporters)

  • Carey Mulligan: rumored to be Mabel Kirke (she personally confirmed her involvement)

  • Denis Gough: unknown role that is “mean to children” (she personally confirmed her involvement)

  • Daniel Craig: rumored to be Uncle Andrew (he now personally confirmed his involvement)

What’s On Netflix reported David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell as the lead roles of Digory and Polly Plummer. While the two children who have been filming look exactly like those two, there has been no official confirmation of casting.

Along with Craig, the Wake Up Dead Man premiere welcomed several other Narnia cast and crew, including Mackey and Gerwig.

Once you have made the World an end, and faith a means, you have almost won your man, and it makes little difference what kind of worldly end he is pursuing.
