This matter of taste in church music has only gotten worse since CSL's day. I won't go into the split between CCM and traditional music. Even in my conservative church, where we lean heavily toward the traditional, we still have complaints from every side. One older gentleman complained recently that our hymnal contains too many jubilant, up-tempo songs and not enough contemplative, minor-keyed hymns! We can't please anybody!
Right! In one of his essays, Lewis basically says it's the job of each group to give up their preference for the other in terms of music. It's Paul's teaching on the weak and strong in the faith and our duty being to serve others. But so many are only concerned with their own preferences.
