C.S. Lewis frequently used the metaphor of a bridge. That same comparison works for Lewis himself.

In Mere Christianity, he spoke about the depth of the Trinity in the seemingly simple scene of a man kneeling to pray:

God is the thing to which he is praying—the goal he is trying to reach. God is also the thing inside him …
