At the beginning of Into the Spider-Verse, the first film in the trilogy, Miles Morales claims a life of “no expectations” with his spray painted mural, but he can’t avoid the expectations thrust on him—by his parents who sent him to an academically advanced prep school and by a dying Peter Parker who tasked him with dangerous mission.
